Study: Osaka Kansai International Arts Festival has begun to launch a project called ‘StART UPs’. The project aims to empower cultural and artistic entrepreneurs, and to build an ecosystem for the cultural and artistic economy for national development with art as a growth strategy. The project will collaborate with start-ups, companies, organizations, and the arts industry to launch experimental projects.

In collaboration with ‘WithDrive’, the world’s first AI-based vehicle wrapping advertisement, several cars wrapped in art by participating artists will be driven around the city. The AI will analyze and display advertisements on smartphones to viewers of the vehicle.

For a limited time, the popular Metaverse City will become a black Metaverse, which can be accessed online and will also be connected to the real exhibition spaces in Osaka via a mirror screen. It is an experimental artwork in which people can participate by using their own avatars on their smartphones and can also come face-to-face with these avatars at the real venues.
TUTTI x Art

The project includes green products, using ‘TUTTI’, a sustainable medium made from recycled polyester fibers, in collaboration with artists. (Osaka has the lowest number of museums per 100,000 inhabitants and the lowest green coverage.)
Old Map x Study：Osaka Kansai International Art Festival 2023

Stroly, an online platform for illustrated maps linked to location data (GPS), will create a map that draws the venues of the Study: Osaka Kansai International Art Festival 2023 on an old map of the great Osaka era.
Try on ART

The ‘scale post’ app, which displays life-size products on a smartphone, will be used to simulate ‘art try-on’ for artworks registered in the marketplace, which is linked to the art fair and sold online. This will make it easy for customers to visualize how the artworks of their choice would look in their home or office when installed.

Staying-style Solo exhibition with Sauna

During the art festival, a solo exhibition by textile artist KAWAMOTO Rentaro Ryo will be held at d3 HOTEL+ (Fukushima-ku), which has been remodeled into a single-family house. The ‘Staying Exhibition’ is a staying style art appreciation program that displays works in a private accommodation – private and public ambiguous space. Also, an installation art by contemporary artist KITANO Yukitsune, themed on light and shadow is exhibited in a private sauna on the rooftop. In this state, which is called ‘totonou’, you can appreciate the works while feeling as if light and shadow envelops the whole body. This location is also well-connected to the Umeda and Nakanoshima areas, where many of the venues for this art festival are located, making it a convenient option for staying during the festival.Surround yourself with artworks in the living room at night, take a sauna and spend time with your loved ones.In the morning, when you wake up and raise yourself out of bed, the artwork takes on a different look in the morning sun.Experience staying with the artwork in an ambiguous space that is neither public nor private.
